Queen is a British 70 and 80's
band. They went throughout
the 90's as well, but not for long.
Queen was a great band in my opinion, they
had a fantastic lead singer (Freddie Mercury)
, an awesome guitarist (Brian May), a cool
drummer( Roger Taylor), and a rockin bass
player (John Deacon). Freddie was amazing! His voice,
and range were out of this world amazing,
Brian's guitar playing was brilliant, John's bass was
great,
and Rogers drumming was crafty. This was a
band made for success!
And boy were they successful!
~Queen Members~
Freddie Mercury: Freddie was Queen's founder and Lead singer. He was born with the name Farrokh Bulsara(I believe that is the spelling).
He grew up in India as well, and was very interested in Art.Freddie was the designer of the Queen logo "crest". The
Queen Crest was designed by Freddie in '72. It was made of all of the birth signs for the band members, and a phonix,
lions and a Q w/ a crown. It's brilliant!
Freddie Mercury, in my opinion, was the GREATEST
singer/performer in rock history! His range
was amazing, and his voice was so sweet
sounding... it was perfect! The whole band was,
but Freddie took the crown =] hahaha I think
that in some song's of his like "Is This the World We Created?", they really speak to you and make you think... should we keep living the way we do. I mean that song
really focuses on global warming I think. I love most of Queen's songs. my favorite, the one's I listen to most often are:
-Is This The World We Created?
-One Year of Love
-The Miracle
-It's a Kind of Magic
-One Vision
-I Want It All
-Hammer To Fall
-Friends Will Be Friends
-Tie Your Mother Down
-We Will Rock You
-Dancer
-Tear It Up
-We Are The Champions
-Another One Bites The Dust
-In The Lap of The Gods
-It's A Hard Life
-Jealousy
-Hello Mary Lou- cover
-Tutti Frutti- cover
-Seven Seas of Rhye
-Crazy Little Thing Called Love
-Breakthru
-It's Late
-Bohemian Rhapsody
-Killer Queen
-Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy
-- and so many more--
These are the greatest songs ever! I love them! And it's all thanks to Queen!
Brian May:
Brian May was Queen's lead guitarist!he was amazing like Freddie as well. And he was great at playing guitar. His signiture
guitar(known as "his lady, or "The Red Special")
was homemade by his dad and him. I think that
is so cool! to make something like a guitar
with your Dad is priceless to me.
And he still uses the guitar today!
I think that Brian May is
THE BEST
guitar playing the the world! He is Brilliant!!!
he was a huge part of Queen's "sound'. And that
guitar he built was perfect! He obviously knows
his stuff! Brian also wrote some of Queen's songs. the great thing about this band is that all of the
members had a say in the songs, all of them at least wrote two songs.
I know for sure that Brian wrote "Tie Your
Mother Down", "Driven By You", but I don't remember all of them off the top of my head. But I like his songs too.
The thing that is cool and unique about Brian May is his Hair! it is like wicked curly, I love it. it hasn't changes much over the years, it has only really changed color.
But
still is cool looking.
John Deacon:
John is Queen's Bass player.
I know a lot of people think bass is just the
background sound that know one hears.
They are totally wrong! Bass players are as
important as the singer or guitar players.
John's playing adds a certain zing to Queen's
sound. In some songs, you hear the bass more
than lead guitar.
Like Another One Bites The Dust. But anyway, I just think that some bass
players think they aren't as important to the
band as the singer or guitarist, and that's
not true. They are equally important.Bass players ROCK!
Roger Taylor:
Roger
Taylor is Queen's drummer. He was great at
it too! He also sings back-up,
live and in the studio. I can see that Roger
love to drum, it shows in his work. He is an
amazing drummer. I think it's good to love what you do for a living!
I LOVE QUEEN!!!
Queen's Quotes
"The concept of Queen is to be regal and majestic. Glamor is part of us, and we want to be dandy...
and it
was really the dandy thing we were into:
dressing up, fooling arond. Even in those
days we knew we'd make it."- Freddie Mercury
{1974}
" We're not just an average, normal rock group really, we're just very weird. We do things that people
least expect, not just for the sake of just
doing them but because it is just a phase we
are going through"- Freddie Mercury{1974}
"I really do love performing. i mean,
it's natural for me. I'm a dandy, a show-off.
I get very high on all the attention. I love it!
"- Freddie Mercury{1974}
"My dear, I'm the vainest creature going but then so are all pop-stars...'- Freddie Mercury{1974}
"I remember back in an interview where i said,
'I play on the bisexual thing.' Of course I
play on it. It's simply a matter of wherever
my mood takes me. If people ask me if I'm gay,
I tell them it's up to them to find it out"-
Freddie Mercury{1976}
"We tend to work well under pressure.
But do we row? Oh my dear, we are the
bitchiest band on earth. You'll have to
spend a couple of days with us. We're at
each other's throats! but if we didn't agree
we'd just be yes-man, and we do get the the
cream in the end"- Freddie Mercury{1974}
"I do all the leaping about, but that's waht
singers should do now. The sound comes from
all of us: Queen work together as a unit.
"- Freddie Mercury{1974}
"I like an audience to respond. Maybe we'd
like them to sit down and listen to some songs
but I get more from them when they're going
wild, and it brings more out of me.
"-Freddie Mercury{1974}
"I remember Freddie telling me,'The most
important thing is to live a fabulous life.
As long as it's fabulous, I don't care how
long it is.' Freddie Mercury was one of my
favorite human beings, He was a gem of a man.
"- Mick Rock{1995}
" I also believe Freddie mercury is a gem of
a man, and I wish there were more people like
him!"- Alora Rovatti{2009}
"When we started off, rock bands were all
wearing jeans - and suddenly here's Freddie
Mercury in a Zandra Rhodes frock with make-up
and black nail varnish. It was outrageous!"
-Freddie Mercury{1971}
"The music press have been pretty unfair to us.
We are basically a rock band. I think we're
good writers and we want to play good music,
no matter how much of a slagging we get.
The music is the most important factor.
"- Freddie Mercury{1974}

~Saddest Loss~
Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest
people alive at his time! "He was a gem
of a man" says Mick Rock Queen's photographer
for a long time. He had one of the greatest
voices known to man, and he was a sweet guy as
well. he was also an animal lover, he loved
his 5 cats so much that he dedicated his
Mr.Bad Guy album to his cats! And wrote the
song
"Delilah" for his favorite cat Delilah!isn't
that the
sweetest thing! he also gave his fond
girlfriend, Mary, his estate when he passed.
He was a loving, kind, sweet person. He was a
successful writer, singer, performer who loved
what he did for a living... making great music,
and making his fans happy. And he succeeded.
Queen,in my opinion is the BEST
band ever! The sad part of this, is that in 1991
Freddie Mercury passed away at his home from
pneumonia, due to A.I.D.S (I believe he was 45);
this was a very sad loss to the other
Queen members, Freddie's
friends, family and trillions of fans. The
only good thing is that he died at his
peaceful house, so he can rest in peace
for ever.
Years after Freddie's death, they put up a
Tribute Statue in Montreux, Switzerland, in
front of Lake Geneva. I believe the band
came here often, and the people who lived
there were huge fans, and it was a peaceful
place. When I'm older, I really, with all
my heart, want to visit this statue!
